myUAE-PRO First Meeting

The formation of MyUAE-PRO has been previously announced. This initiative has received support from the office of H E Consul General and Tuan Trade Commisioner.

 

1. The First official meeting of MyUAE-PRO will be held

Saturday, April 19th, 2008.
MARTRADE OFFICE

10am - 12pm.

2. The agenda of the meeting will be as follows

• Welcome and Introduction
• Messages from H E Consul General and Tuan Trade Commisioner.
• Objectives of MyUAE-PRO
• Membership terms and conditions & registration.
• Short term Action Plans - To agree proposals.
• Appointment of office bearers.

3. The following individuals made up the Protem committee.

4. Election of office bearers!

Please submit your nominations to myuaepro@yahoo.com, latest by 12 noon on Wednesday April 16th, 2008.
• Each nomination will be made by a proposer and supported by one seconder.
• A personmay nominate more than one individuals.
The proposer and the seconder must get consent of the person nominated.
Both the proposer and the nominated person must be present at the meeting on April 19th.

The scene was something the foodcourt in Mirdiff Uptown has never seen before. Six tables were pulled and arranged together - seated around them were 30 Malaysian men. Not far from there, three tables arranged in similar manner had ten ladies and a few babies too. The elder boys and girls were playing games they have created for themselves.

A couple of security guards came by, especially after Nik and Fendi brought out their camera fixed with long lenses. When Mat Ju joined the fray with his canon - a security guard came and stood where we were almost semi permanently.

myUAE-PRO New Arrivals Meet

Dubai, UAE myUAE-PRO is to held its first program, a get together with Malaysians in the UAE.

The program, part of its many more self-help activities is to gather and facilitate new and old Malaysians in the UAE. 

"In the last one month alone we have noted many new arrivals. myUAE-PRO wants to play an active role in organizing and facilitating a welcome an introductory get together especially for new arrivals to UAE", said Pak Payne - the Protem Committee Chairman.

The first myUAE-PRO get together will be held after Friday Prayers on April 11th, 2008 at the FOODCOURT area in UPTOWN MIRDIF (Dubai).

Pak Payne added, "This is an open invitation to ALL Malaysians - old and new in UAE - to be there so that we can meet and spend some quality time together". It is the hope of the protem committee that the get together will facilitate introductions between Malaysians who have settled in Dubai with Malaysians who have recently arrived. The meeting will be informal and it will be on self-help basis. The more the merrier and the more help we can offer to each other.

Up, up and Away!

Dubai will soon get to see another world record. It's iconic Burj Dubai - currently world's tallest building is set to become second best!

Dubai World's developer, Nakheel (also famous for its Palm Islands) is set to see its Al Burj recorded as the world's tallest building. Al Burj, as reported by Arabian Business will command a towering 1.2 km, surpassing Emaar's Burj Dubai - said to be 900 meter tall once completed in 2009.

The source would not reveal the name of the project, which is commonly referred to as Al Burj or the Tall Tower.

Nakheel confirmed to ArabianBusiness.com that it was working with Woods Bagot, but said it could not discuss details about the project.

"We are still finalising the design concept of a new project involving an iconic structure - Woods Bagot are a consultant on this project," Nakheel said in a statement.

"As we are still in the design concept stage, it would be premature to discuss any details at this early stage."

At 1,200 metres high Al Burj would be significantly taller than Emaar Properties' Burj Dubai, which is expected to be up to 900 metres once complete in early 2009, although the final height remains a closely guarded secret.

Seminar: Synergistic Investment Opportunities

EVENT A seminar and dialogue jointly organized by the office of the Consulate General of Malaysia, Malaysia Trade Center (Dubai) and SKRINE (one of Malaysia's law firms) on investment opportunities in Malaysia is to take place on April 13, 2008.

The event - "Synergistic Investment Opportunities: The UAE and Malaysia" will be held at Dubai Rooms C and D, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center from 8:30am to 4:00pm. Deputy Governor Bank Negara Malaysia, Dato' Mohd Razif Abdul Kadir will deliver the opening key note address.

Dubai News Round-up

Brand your "own" Metro Station In what seems to be a first in the region, Dubai's RTA has announced the opportunity for companies to sponsor Metro stations for a period of up to 10 years. The scheme allows companies to name the stations, with proceeds from the sponsorship to be used to finance public projects. There will be a total of 23 out of 47 stations available for sponsorship. Dubai metro is said to be one of the most advanced mass urban rail system in the world. Can we have myUAE station please? More here

Number auction Dubai plates "43" and "61" were sold at a record Dhs.2.3 million each at RTA's (Road and Transport Authority) number plate auction. The total collection from the sale was Dhs.41 million - collected from the sales of two, three, four and five digit number plates. More here
